According to Dr. Miesch, "We expect fall 2024 to bring the highest level of solar activity in over 20 years. This, combined with a natural tendency for aurorae to occur more frequently and more brilliantly in fall and spring should make this season special. The high magnetic latitude of Churchill will provide a front-row seat to one of the most spectacular natural phenomena on our planet, linking us to skywatchers of the past who have been captivated by the majestic, mysterious apparition of the northern lights for thousands of years." - Dr. Miesch is a Research Scientist at Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at the University of Colorado, Boulder and NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC).

Hop aboard our Arctic Crawler™ and enjoy unforgettable views of the unique, breathtaking and colourful sub-Arctic tundra and Hudson Bay coastline. Polar bear, Moose, Caribou, Red and Arctic Fox, Ptarmigan and Arctic Hare are all possible sightings this time of year.

Feel an adrenaline rush as you ride in a dog cart pulled by Huskies in the Northern Boreal Forest. Hear Indigenous stories and wisdom from a Métis dog musher.

Trek along the Hudson Bay coast to the Ithaca, a once British-flagged steamship that ran aground during an eighty-mile-an-hour storm. Don’t be surprised if you see a polar bear or two Up North and Personal™.

Hear local Indigenous beliefs about northern lights and storytelling around a warm, cozy bonfire as you enjoy hot chocolate and Bannock— a bread eaten as a meal by early settlers and Indigenous people.

Day and night, enjoy all inclusive, delicious and locally-inspired meals in our Lazy Bear Café, awarded ‘Top Choice of Restaurants in Churchill’ by Lonely Planet.

Relax with ‘Canada’s Best Cup of Coffee’ (as awarded by Reader’s Digest) and other complimentary specialty coffees in the glow and warmth of our massive Scandinavian stone fireplace.

Rooms were great; housekeeping happily kept the lodge clean; the Cafe (expresso bar) second to none. Tours organized by hard working tour guides, made the experience unforgettable.
